Sunlight

in a year of gray days
you burn brighter
than any sun -

your warmth
heals old wounds,
washing clean
the scars of a broken past

the gentle beam of your smile
turns the sorrow of the year's defeats
into victory -

I feel I'd never won,
until now.

Eden

it is easy to dream
of a different life;
to place yourself
in a fantastical eden -

what's harder,
much, much harder
is to understand,
you're there

Questions

some day
might I add up
to a portion
of the sum of my dreams,
might I find the courage
to be who I am
while realizing my potential -

or is it one or the other?

do I ask too much?
