the horizon rises
in a burning orange,
driving out the night,
waiting for the sun
to explode into light;
we drive onward -
we've been asked,
there is a need -
we keep going -
for them -
into the fire

Me
too often I look in the mirror
and only see me;
I fail to acknowledge
those who came before -
the ones who made me -
I miss those in the world
who rely upon me;
I only have eyes for the burdens
I have placed upon me,
my mind thinks the world
is being done to me,
I am blind
to all there is to see,
it's foolish to think
the world revolves around me;
if I look with my heart
at all that surrounds me
I can become
a better version of me
NYC
it moves in colors
at a pace
a blurry rainbow
in constant motion
it exhausts
it is beautiful
the world is here
alive in these streets
beneath the concrete
stretching to the sky
to slow down
is to be crushed
to miss the diversity here
find a vantage point
to drink it in
see its power
see its possibility
see this world
