these words
are a beating heart,
they speak
when the mouth won't move,
they carry the hope
of a new day -
a new way -
they are experiment,
they are release -
the unspeakable
brought into the open -
what could be,
what is,
potential oozes
from the pen,
life is a poem
these words hold power,
they speak the soul,
they are their writer
laid bare

Forward
time spent questioning
your life
would be better spent
on its improvement,
what power is there
in playing the victim,
in becoming
a self-made martyr;
your strength
comes from experience,
that takes living,
facing down the challenges
of each day,
adapting, overcoming,
moving ahead,
carrying on
that is your path:
forward
Unbending
I will not yield
to the unbending will of time,
though I know it is a battle
I cannot win
I will do all I can
to ensure what time remains
is as productive as possible -
limiting idleness and waste -
I will treat each minute as a gift
to be treasured,
not bending beneath the weight
of its passing
I will not sacrifice a second,
I will fill my time with life
