Questions

some day
might I add up
to a portion
of the sum of my dreams,
might I find the courage
to be who I am
while realizing my potential -

or is it one or the other?

do I ask too much?

Sunrise

morning sky, a frescoe
of muted blue
and puffy, pink-hued white;

the birth of light
rising over rooftops
a new opportunity is born

Roots

I am called home
by animal instincts
I can't explain,
no matter the places I go
the new roots I sow,
the pull of pine trees
and the salty, rocky coast,
horizons of fiery beauty,
the draw of fierce independence,
leave my soul restless -
my roots call me home
