Reward

freedom comes from
emptying the mind
of those worries
beyond your control;

this is a difficult lesson
learned with repeated practice
over time;

you must not
fear the work
if you seek
the reward

a part of me
still expects you
to be invincible -
impervious to time's passing -

it is the dream
of a child
for their heroes;

no one 
is immune
to the weaknesses
brought on
by time's
inevitable passage

life is full of riches,
we are all
time poor;

inject life
into your days,
for time slips away
as wind
through a closed fist,

tomorrow is no guarantee,
we cannot buy back
wasted seconds,

there is only
what remains
in our hourglass,
spend it wisely
