Numbers

years worn in the eyes,
crow's feet of laughter
marking time;
still strong in spirit,
mind and body
remain willing;
age is a number -
a mere record -
life is always waiting
to be lived,
no matter the time

Quiet Moments

we are all broken:
so many of life's damages
are self-inflicted
through the noise
we let into our lives -

we must seek out
our quiet moments;
find stillness
to be alone with ourselves
facing down our thoughts
and the demons of our minds;

we must make peace with silence
to allow ourselves to heal

Upset

a bruise rests upon the horizon
in the half-light of storm;
a ceiling of midnight blue,
brushed with deep purple
encompasses the world

the sky aches,
its pain explodes upon us
in heavy droplets of tears -

Nature is upset
