Silence Amidst Noise

a sliver of silence,
amidst the raging cacophony
of the day;

accept pockets of peace
wherever you find them -
create them
if you must -

the noise
is not important,

the clarity
found in silence,
is the path

The Noise

do what you can -
what you can control -
what remains is noise
     shut it out

the world's cacophony
is an unpleasant earworm
stealing away peace;

everyone wants
their perceived grievances
to be heard;

I shove in my AirPods -
with no sound -
to block out the noise
